The Drycleaner’s Van by Jason Fisk

The Drycleaner’s Van

He pulled up to the red light
and saw a white van next to him
with a large black clothes hanger
painted on its side
and it reminded him of the stories
he’d heard about his great grandma
and her untimely demise
due to a botched
coat-hanger abortion

And he thought that it was ironic
that that side of the family
was pro-life

And he was grateful
for the green light
and his prerogative
and ability
to pull
away
