Citizens for Decent Literature Press, a project of The Literary Underground, is honored to announce the posthumous release of Brian Fugett: Poems on November 5, 2025, timed with the Full Beaver Moon. This collection gathers the poetic work of Brian Fugett (1972–2025), preserving the voice of a writer, editor, and cultural instigator whose impact on the underground literary world will continue well beyond his years.
Brian Fugett was many things: poet, publisher, founder, humorist, community-builder, and unapologetic thorn in the side of polite literature. As founder of Zygote in my Coffee and Tainted Coffee Press, and collaborator on countless projects that pushed the boundaries of indie lit, Brian championed the loud, the unruly, the overlooked, and the unpolished. He made space for writers who never thought they’d be let in the door.
Brian Fugett: Poems brings together selected and previously unpublished work from across his writing life. These pages reflect the full range of Brian’s voice — biting wit, raw honesty, irreverence, heart, rage, absurdity, tenderness, and that stubborn refusal to look away from the truth, no matter how uncomfortable or ridiculous it got.
