Being Here Now
This house purrs, pops, ticks
hums and idles like a car
but with oxygen.
Hundreds of leds, lasers
and color changing lights
shine through crystals,
onto walls and ceilings,
sounds like a summer night
in North Carolina
fifty years ago
when the night was alive
with multitudes.
Creating as we go,
every thought is a movement,
every move changes our path,
setting us up subconsciously
for the next experience.
I am 2,000 miles from
my childhood home
in a desert city on the border
where small planes patrolling
drown out tiny life noises
but inside the house
it sounds like a Southern night.
