The Literary Underground Wiki Reaches Milestone

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ILLINOIS, USA. December 27, 2010 (SmallPressCenter) – The Literary Underground Wiki today announced the addition of 75 original articles in its first six months.

The Literary Underground Wiki was created in June 2010 as a way to compile knowledge about the underground press. It is an open-source encyclopedia written collaboratively by the people who use it. The Literary Underground Wiki covers the history, production, distribution and culture of the underground press. Anyone can contribute to the wiki by adding new information to existing articles or creating new articles.

When asked about contributors to the wiki Michele McDannold said, “Would-be contributors are often intimidated by the wiki platform. The formatting can be a pain to get into. It’s the information that we want though. Someone will come along and fix the formatting.”

The Literary Underground Wiki does not impose many of the restrictions one might come across when contributing articles to Wikipedia. “Some of the best, most informative articles we have are written by the subjects themselves.” said Mrs. McDannold. “It can be difficult to find information about underground authors, projects and publications if you weren’t there involved in it yourself. It speaks to the very nature of the underground press but that doesn’t mean that people don’t want to or shouldn’t know about it. It simply means the work is necessary by any means possible.”

The Literary Underground Wiki aims to be a great resource for the community it represents. The goal is to reach 300 articles by June. Getting started is easy. New contributors only need to create a free account and sign in to edit or create articles. There is a listing of “wanted” pages (subjects that are mentioned in other articles) where you can click on the name and it takes you directly to create that article.

Red Fez Publications Releases “Vulcan Gang Sign”

Red Fez Publications announces the release of our first online chapbook, Bradley Mason Hamlin’s “Vulcan Gang Sign.” It is featured in our 29th issue, available online at http://www.redfez.net/

Editor-in-Chief Michele McDannold would like to take full credit for the idea, though she obviously stole it from Zygote. “When I finally decided to enter the internet age, “Monkey on a Stick” was the first thing that really blew me away. So when we started talking about doing chaps at Red Fez, Bradley was the first one that came to mind.”

The 24 page chapbook consists of 11 Bradley Mason Hamlin poems, including “Santa Monica Blues,” which recalls Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s early days as a rent collecting bodybuilder.

Hamlin lives in Sacramento, California. He is the creator of Mystery Island Publications (http://mysteryisland.net/) and writes the Secret Society series: Intoxicated Detective.
