someone once wrote, and whispered,
\nas perhaps a warning
\nto wet eyes left behind.
\nwhy not? I mutter.
\nwhy not?
\nI know three who did,
\nwithout fuss or turmoil,
\nand now, their arms
\nare linked
\nas they casually saunter,
\nside by side,
\ntoward a distant light.
\nas their voices fade away
\nI know
\nthe outdoorsman is talking about
\nhunting and fishing,
\nthe world traveling poet
\nis telling again
\nabout the pitfalls of humanity
\nvs. the environment,
\nand the city man entrepreneur
\nchuckles as he shares
\nanother risque joke for
\nmale ears,
\nunscrubbed, unfettered,
\nand all totally free
\nof last minute things to do<\/p>\n
