Gainer (b. 17 February 1949) is an American poet, essayist, editor, and publisher. Gainer was born in Oakland, California. He spent his early years in the San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay Areas of California. Gainer earned his BA in Management at St. Mary's College and his MPA in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. Gainer lived in Santa Cruz, Aptos and Watsonville areas of Santa Cruz County until his early thirties when he relocated to the Sierra Nevada Foothills of Northern California; where, as of 2012, he continues to live and work. Gainer is the owner/operator of [[R.L. Crow Publications]]. He is a co-founder and current board member of the Nevada County Poetry Series. Gainer is a featured contributor to and performer in the documentary film, “I Began To Speak”, produced by former Sacramento State graduate students [[B.L. Kennedy]] and [[Linda Thorell]].
