James Babbs (b. 1966) is an American poet living somewhere in the corn fields of Illinois. He has been writing poetry since the early 1980s and is widely published in print and online.
Born in 1966 in a small Illinois town Babbs began writing poetry in 1982 as a high school sophomore. That year he received two honorable mentions in a poetry contest and was on his way. Attending college in the fall of 1984 he dropped out less than two years later. Babbs returned in 1990 only to drop out again.
Babbs has worked a variety of jobs but is currently a rural mail carrier.
