Felino A. Soriano (b. 23 August) is an American poet, editor and publisher. He is a case manager and advocate for adults with developmental and physical disabilities. In 2009 he founded the experimental, online journal Counterexample Poetics and Differentia Press, an electronic chapbook press dedicated to presenting experimental poetry.

Early Life

Soriano was born on the central coast of California. While artistic endeavors did not occur for him until much later in life, he began training in Tae Kwon Do at the age of five. Excelling in competitions throughout California, Nevada, and Hawaii, he subsequently, at 15, received his first degree black belt; he continued to train regularly until age 21.

Literary Career

In January, 2000, Soriano began writing poetry and had one poem accepted for publication in 2001. He did not submit others until 2004, and again, had one accepted. He then reevaluated his work and began submitting poems again in March, 2006. Since 2006, Soriano has had over 2,700 poems accepted for publication in various print and online magazines, journals and anthologies, and has had 44 print and electronic collections of poetry accepted for publication since January, 2008.

Soriano's poems are interpretations of environment, influenced by various idioms of jazz music as well as by the metaphysical vantage of exposing the abstract into a concrete rendition of neoteric understanding.

Counterexample Poetics and Differentia Press

Counterexample Poetics exhibits poetry, photography, paintings, and hybrid genres existing within the subjective interpretation of experimental. The journal contains a Featured Artists section with work by Duane Locke, Heller Levinson, Vernon Frazer, Matina Stamatakis, and others. The journal also includes interviews with various artists and reviews of contemporary collections of poetry.

Differentia Press publishes poetry collections in electronic form that delve into realms of experimental vantages. Published poets include Duane Locke, Kane X. Faucher, Charles Freeland, Gail Gray, Ray Succre, among others.
